As a designer she brought us options we did not see at any of the local furniture stores. She customized our home to suit our needs and individual style. With the services she offered came her vast product knowledge. The market place can be overwhelming when making choices such as the proper flooring. She took us to a showroom and helped guide and direct us with our lifestyle in mind. When it came to the seating in our Great Room she recommended and helped us select the right durable fabrics that are pet and kid friendly, especially since we have grandchildren. I have a guest powder room that I wanted transformed into something elegant. I did not want a shower curtain or glass enclosure around my bathtub. Barb came in full of wonderful ideas that I would never have thought of. She suggested drape panels and a cornice that went to the ceiling to give the room height and depth. It was so easy working with Barb, who is a true professional! I am indecisive, so her patience was one of her greatest assets. After looking at dozens of fabric ideas, we finally came up with a beautiful design. It was just what I wanted...dramatic. Her staff was also great to work with. We purchased our villa at the end of 2014 for a bargain price due to its need for repair, maintenance and decor. At the recommendation of our realtor (put her name and firm in here if appropriate), we hired Barbara Hyman Interiors to take charge of all the work that we suggested and gave Barbara Hyman relative freedom within budgetary constraints to rehab the villa. Then, we went back to our home up North to our life there!
"The two Barbs and I corresponded on their progress. Their caring selections for walls, paint, countertops and fixtures came first and then later, furniture, appliances and accessories (we moved very little from our previous home). They were spot on with essentially guessing correctly what we wanted - often before we even had an idea! They turned this villa into a warm home and we later moved into it permanently! Thank you! Thank you! When I first moved here I never expected that I would need a professional to help me with selecting a new floor and redecorating. With the Florida Lifestyle being so different here than my cold weather state of NJ. I soon realized that my furniture from up north would be way too dark and heavy for coastal Florida. It’s a good thing I spoke with Barb before I paid the movers to transport my furniture. After seeing photo’s of the light and bright coastal look that she produced I realized I was ready for a change and that my bulky velvet sofa would be totally out of place. Once we discussed my favorite colors and styles she came up with the perfect space plan that is functional as well as beautiful to look at. I love entertaining in my new home. We knew we did not want to be rushed through our selection process when purchasing our new home in Valencia, so we hired Barbara Hyman. After our first phone conversation and initial meeting we knew she had the expertise to guide and direct us beforehand so we could bring about the cohesive coordination necessary when selecting the bones of the home. Barbara helped us with flooring, counter tops, backsplash, cabinetry as well as plumbing fixtures and paint choices which were simple, because Barb took the time with us, at the Builders Design Center prior to the day we handed everything in. Before we made these choices she discussed the style of the furniture we would be choosing for our new home which helped with the other choices. We did not want our house to look like our Illinois home and knew we needed her help. Everything looked amazing, so we retained her to assist us with furniture, lighting fixtures, lamps and fans, window treatments, bedding and art. We learned that a good designer asks many questions to determine a client’s style. All of which brought about a beautiful end result.
